This morning as I was paying my Express bill, I noticed an add on the side of the Google results for "Express Fashion". The link text was "Cute and Wealthy Dating" and it lead to a website called adultfriendzone.com, and the little ad blurb said: “Find Wealthy & Beautiful Singles 100% Free Online Dating Site !” Aside from losing a little more of my already waning faith in American society, I couldn't help but wonder if there really are people out there who's fondest hope in life is to marry a rich person.

My cousin, who I have a great deal of respect for, once told me that all she wanted out of her life was to marry a rich man. She has since married a doctor who is born of a long line of very prestigious doctors, including one Nobel prize winner. Mission accomplished. I do have a tremendous amount of respect for this woman now, and I believe her to be a good person, a good wife, and a great mother, but at the time she made that statement to me, I was appalled, and was just sure that she'd end up like the girl in the Eagles song "Lying Eyes". While I am VERY glad that she is happy, I still believe that someone who honestly has these sentiments is setting them self up for some serious cloudy days in life.

Whatever happened to wanting, more than anything in life, to fall in love? So what if you are poor!
