Finally, a group of people has taken action in a way that our government cannot ignore! The Labor Union which represents the west coast dock workers is standing down today in protest of the war in Iraq. Tens of thousands of workers have closed off 29 ports along the west coast of the United States with one simple message: "End the war now, and send our men and women home!"
In a time when every other appeal to end this extravagant war has fallen on deaf ears, these men and women have made a stand and spoken in a language that CANNOT be ignored: money. Every peaceful march, city hall sit in, and written cry for mercy has been ignored. None of us, no matter how we choose to organise, has been able to make our voice heard. The men and women of The International Longshore and Warehouse Union have gathered together, and made their voices one collective voice. All I can say is thank you to all of these wonderful people, for putting themselves on the line for a cause which so many have tried to advance, without success.
