Like is like...

So I had my own Forest Gump style moment this morning... Getting ready for work, I realised that life is like a pair of new shoes...

We make the change to be better (well, look better, in the case of the shoes, but still), or because the old version is broken, tired, and just plain needs to be replaced. So we pick out something new that looks like it will fit well, and be perfect. Yet, any time we make the change, we feel the initial pain of something new... We spend a day or two limping around thinking that maybe we made the wrong choice, maybe this change was not worth it. And sometimes, the pain never goes away... We are left limping every time we put the shoes back on, and after refusing to admit to our failure for some period of time, and nursing our blisters in private, we finally realise that these are not our shoes. We relegate them to the back of the closet, and only rarely remember them when we clean out. Other times, when we are lucky, we find that the pain fades, slowly, albeit, and is replaced by comfort, love and general well being. The shoes get worn in, and we find that they DO fit! They ARE perfect! And they become the basis of many, many good days.

Just a thought I had...

And yes, I am wearing new shoes today... ;)
