Spring renewal

Spring seems to be here, though today's weather certainly doesn't reflect that...  Similar to many people, I feel a strong sense of renewal, and of rejuvenation that has come with this spring.  I am feeling healthier, getting more exercise, eating better.  I am in love, and happy.  And I am, for the first time in a very long time, really, truly feeling at home.  The apartment that Adolfo and I have been living in for the last year had been our first home together.  We made the decision to move in together for a good number of reasons, but for 2 main reasons.  First, we were spending all of our free time together anyways, and second, we were thinking about the future, and realized that we needed to know where we were going...  a year later, it seems clear that we are in this for the long haul, and we have started thinking about the kinds of things we want in a permanent home, for sometime in the future, when we have that choice.  Now, though, the focus seems to be in finding a way to make a home somewhere feel permanent enough.

The apartment we live in now has been great, it really has, and we do love it.  The light on a Saturday morning when we share the kitchen and cook favorite foods (Adolfo's oatmeal for me and my home fries for him) is nothing short of perfect.  The cats love the big, open spaces, and they have plenty of interesting things to look at from the windows that overlook the river and bustling Front Street.  Our combined collections of furniture and collected stuff looks SO good together in this space!  The kitchen is, for the most part, the stuff of my culinary fantasies.  It feels like home to us.  So we started the process last night to make a couple of changes that will make it a place that we can really stay at least for the next year, hopefully the next 2 years, while Adolfo finishes his Master's degree.  So far so good...  We'll see where it goes.  :)
